Baby carriers are one of the most reliable and easy to use travel systems for babies. There are lots of brands and models available around for really affordable prices. If you make a little research I am sure you can find the best one that meets your needs.

If you are planning to buy a new baby carrier, there are some questions you should ask yourself before finalizing your choice. As there are lots of brands and types in the market, it is a bit difficult to choose the right one. In this article I will talk about the most important five questions about baby carriers which need to be answered before buying one.

1. Is it safe enough?
Safety is our number one concern when it comes to our babies, therefore anything that is related to them should abide the safety rules. A baby carrier, which you rely on by putting your baby inside it, should be strong enough to support the weight of your baby. Since you might be carrying the baby for a long time; it cannot be broken or torn easily. It should also resist water and wind. Hence, before buying a new one, this would be the most important question to answer.

2. Is it made of healthy materials?
In today’s world, we can see an increasing number of unhealthy materials those are used in the production of baby related goods. Even sometimes, we hear some established brands do this. Therefore, you have to take extra care about health concerns and make sure that the baby carrier you consider to buy is made of materials that are completely healthy.

3. Is it comfortable enough?
Another important aspect is that if your baby will feel comfortable inside the baby carrier. Little babies cannot talk, they cannot tell you if they feel good or not. However, you can figure this out by looking at their face. If you see a smile then everything is ok. Try different types of baby carriers before buying and see in which your baby feels most comfortable. This is as important as safety, since you will be carrying the baby sometimes even hours.

4. Is it easy to use?
Having too many complicated parts, buttons or cords renders it difficult to use a baby carrier. Since, you will probably be alone and unlikely to find help most of the times, it is better to choose an easy to use baby carrier. The simplicity doesn’t always mean lack of safety or comfort. See if you can handle it yourself and put the baby in or out easily without the help of other’s. This will make things easier for you in the long term.

5. Is it very expensive?
Finally, the last but not the least important point is the price. Although price is not an important concern as safety or comfort, you should definitely take it into consideration, in order to get the best out of your hard earned money. Compare the prices on different stores and including all the above factors, decide on the best baby carrier for your little baby.

Checklist For Baby Gear

Here is a list of things you need of baby equipment for your newborn. You can buy almost all of this equipment used.

When the baby is born, many parents do not have the full overview for what they need for their baby. So we’ve put together a shopping list checklist that includes everything you need to see you through the first six weeks.

Remember that only two things you need to buy new is the car seat and the baby’s mattress. Everything else – clothes, travel system, baby bath, etc. – all can be borrowed or bought up at a local NCT sale. And do not forget to write a wish list. Friends and family will shower you with gifts galore then steer them gently (but good!) towards what you really need.

Sites that Raising Kids, Think Baby, and Baby World has lots of advice and product reviews so before you splash out do your research!

And when you’re ready to hit the stores makes life easier by doing it online. Our favorite stores like John Lewis, Mamas and Papas and Daisy and Tom have all the good sites with good customer service and return policies.

Baby Equipment List

What you need for your baby is:

Car seat, We have written about this in another article. It is important to the safety and isofix standard.

Baby Bed (including bedding, carpets and a new mattress) is essential. Bed sharing with the child is not recommended due to SIDS.

Stroller or a combination carriage, or carriage twin / triplet carriage if you have more.

Carrying Harness Such as baby björn baby carrier. It will make life easier.

Baby Monitor – That a monitoring of your child, often with video and sound surveilance.

Baby Clothes - You can buy cheap used or new at full price. It depends on whether you want to save money or whether you want new and good.

Breast pads Mom must have, if not it will be messy with milk.

To breastfeed just as well to give formula so you can use nursing bra for part-time, spending more bottle when you’re out.

Breast Pump to pump the milk out of the chrysalis, especially when you are engaged in withdrawal of tit, then it may be an advantage.

Diapers does not cost as much as people assume. You can buy up a large stock of cheap diapers, and they work just as good as brand diapers.

Cotton Spinner is often good to have, but do not use the built in ear, as it can damage your baby`s hearing.

Bath Thermometer is not necessary but it can be an advantage. If not using just the elbow in the water, and know whether it is fit temperature. 35 degrees may be too much for some children.

Additional equipment such as nail scissors and brush with soft chamber. There is much you need, that’s not listed here.

You will never have too much baby equipment. It is important to be early to buy all the necessary equipment, and await that not important.

Baby Carriers Aka Baby Slings Defined

Baby Carriers aka Baby Slings Defined

Let me first say that I am a man – that’s capital M-A-N. When I first heard baby carrier I quite simply thought – wife! Hold on now before you all, if you haven’t already, labeled me as a capital P-I-G let me continue. I thought for a moment and assumed they were talking about a stroller – those little inexpensive lightweight fold up modes of transportation that have been around for years to push around an infant while shopping, or at the park, or at the zoo, etc. WRONG! OK – how about that padded piece of plastic with a big handle over that seems to have multiple functions? The name of this item escapes me right now. It doesn’t matter since I’m WRONG – again! I give. What is a baby carrier?

After a crash course I have learned that there are a vast amount of types of baby carriers that can be basically separated into four different categories. I’ll go more depth on each at a later date and within each category you will also find that the manufacturers vary some in their methods of construction.

BABY WRAPS: Baby wraps are quite simply a long piece of cloth that is wrapped around the infant and the person carrying the infant. The material is knotted to keep the child and wrap in place.

BABY SLINGS: Baby slings take the knots out of the wrap by sewing the material together where needed or there is a variation that uses a couple of rings to fasten the cloth.

MEI TAIS: A mei tai is a type of carrier that consists of a formed area for the infant and is held in place by shoulder straps and a waist strap that are tied.

BABY CARRIER: A baby carrier is similar to a mei tai except that it uses snaps and/or buckles at the shoulder and waist straps.

As you can see these are very broad definitions. I will go into each in more depth at a later date. Stay tuned.

Baby carriers et al offer the carrier the opportunity to have your baby with you and still have both hands free to do, for example, household tasks or shopping. As with all items associated with your infant please comply with all safety instructions such as proper positioning of the child, size limitations, and movement restrictions.

With so many different kinds of baby carriers to choose from, why do many babywearing parents recommend baby slings? We all know that baby carriers are meant to let parents use both of their hands while holding and carrying their baby close to their body. These carriers will also help form a special bond between parents and the baby. But aside from the convenience and practicality, what are the other things that set baby slings apart from other types of baby carriers? Why should you choose baby slings over the others?

Baby slings are lighter than the other types of baby carriers. Because it made of only cloth or fabric, you can easily make it small by folding it so it would fit inside any type of bag. It is compact enough making it perfect to be used when you are going out with your baby like going to the grocery or mall. This is also perfect for traveling so you will not have any difficulty in carrying your baby.

Another reason why you should choose a baby sling is because there are plenty of choices available. You can choose from its many designs and prints and they also come in almost every color that you will prefer. Even if you will have to learn the basic skills of putting on some specific types of baby slings, you will find that baby slings are very easy to use after all. There are ring slings, pouches and adjustable pouches.  Each has its own advantages. The pouch type baby slings are probably the easiest baby carrier to use because all you have to do is to put it over one of your shoulder and around your body. It is very important to get the right size of the pouch type baby sling because unlike ring slings and adjustable pouches, these baby slings are not adjustable.  Usually this makes pouches unsuitable for sharing by different sized caregivers.  Bag slings are not recommended because the fabric tends to cover the babies face while in the cradle position.  This makes it difficult to monitor babies positioning and breathing.

Baby slings will also be able to protect your privacy when nursing or breastfeeding your baby in a public place or area. The tail or the excess cloth from a ring sling can be used as a drape to cover your breast. Even while using a pouch you can benefit from extra coverage from the top rail of the pouch while nursing.

Babywearing parents can also carry their baby in many different positions to accommodate their baby through many developmental stages.  Most sling type baby carriers can be used for newborns and older babies. From the cradle position for newborns to the hip hold for babies six months and older, your baby will be covered. Just make sure that you will get a baby sling that high quality and would be able to support your baby’s weight.

Baby slings are also the easiest to clean because they are made of fabrics. You’ll just have to put them in your washer when it is time for them to get cleaned and they would be as good as new. Baby slings have been around since long before modern society, and they are still being used until now because most parents love all the advantages that they give. Even if there are some modern versions of baby carriers, baby slings are still around simply because they are still one of the best

Baby Travel Tips

Christmas is approaching…The festive season often involves visiting relatives and hence the word “travel”, which on itself is alright but put next to the word “baby”, that can mean things get a tiny bit more complicated…or certainly less practical. So here are a few tips and a tick list as to how to keep (you and) your baby relaxed when travelling without you requiring an extra pair of arms or a mule for the excess of baggage.

1st, transporting your baby:
If your baby is younger than 15 months, you might opt for a baby carrier: which maintains a bond between your little one and yourself. However past a certain weight, it is definitely preferable to use a buggy. Strollers are ideal for going on holidays as they are the lightest pushchairs available –so that’s especially good for public transport. If you’re mostly going to use a car, then a good idea is to go for a baby travel system which includes a detachable baby car seat to a pushchair base. For other baby car accessories, Hello Baby advises having a look at Sunshine Kids line of products -which are pretty functional.

Be prepared for all baby needs (critical point!)
So now that you can actually transport your baby, you obviously have to worry about how to keep him/ her happy. Without oversimplifying babies, I would sum up the problem in 4 words: food-potty-goodie-nap. So first, it is always helpful to have some of his favourite snacks and plenty of water or some milk at hand (perhaps involving a bottle insulator), together with some toys that particularly retain his attention and interest. As for the toiletry issue: of course nappies are not to be forgotten (in which case a baby changing mat could help) but from the age of 9-10 months, a travel potty is just *indispensable*. Nap time is important, so try not to go on too long a day out. Also different baby travel cots exist that are easily transportable and can provide your baby with a cosy place to sleep when on holidays.

Adapt your rhythm to your baby’s
If you’re going on a day out, remember that too many sounds and sights may be slightly overwhelming for your little toddler, hence it is good to adapt your rhythm to your kid’s.

Baby travel safety
When travelling it is good practice to always carry a first aid kit –or a few elements of it. And depending on where you are going to stay, it may be worth bringing a few drawer/ cupboard/ fridge locks: they are usually very light products -in which the Clippasafe brand specialises, lthough Prince Lionheart products are doing quite well too.

Find that bag to put everything in…
And to find stuff (i.e. a light one with a few pockets and zips; some baby changing bags actually do the job quite well).

Travel strollers are the easiest way to transport newborns. This convenient travel system includes a standard single stroller and a compatible infant car seat with a stay-in car base. This infant seat doubles as a baby carrier and allows for parents to transport from stroller to car without having to distributing their baby. Best of all, when your infant outgrows their car seat, the stroller can still be used throughout their toddler and preschool years. When shopping for travel strollers, look for ones that are easy to install in cars and it is always a good idea to make sure that the seat with actually fit in your car as well. Baby travel strollers add convenience into a new parent’s life and are very easy to use.
If you are a parent who is constantly go, a lightweight stroller might be the best idea for you. Lightweight strollers have come a long way in the past few years, no longer just featuring an umbrella, but also now feature reclining seats, parent cup holders and under seat storage bags. Lightweight strollers typically weigh less than 14 pounds and are the most compact, portable type of stroller. Strollers lightweight are so convenient and take up so little space that many parents keep these in their trunks at all times. While shopping for strollers that are lightweight, you should consider an adjustable sunshade, five-point harness and an easy-to-use parking brake. Lightweight strollers are designed primarily for infants who can hold their heads up and can sit upright unassisted at about six months old. However, some models are suitable for younger babies if the stroller has a reclining seat. These strollers can also be used for many years since there is a high weight limit that is also ideal for older toddlers. If you are a parent who is on the go; a lightweight stroller is a good investment.
Perhaps you are a parent who is expecting twins or maybe you have two children who are pretty close in age to each other? Then a double stroller is the perfect stroller for your family’s use. Double strollers either have side-by-side seating or tandem seating. Side-by-side seating is ideal for two older or similarly aged children and usually features reclining seats. Tandem seating often features swivel seats so that one or both children can look at the scenery going by. Double baby strollers are a lifesaver and also easily transported for everyday use.
There is a lot to consider when purchasing a stroller for the first time or upgrading your current stroller for your current lifestyle. Either way, strollers make life much more convenient than without.

Here are a few suggestions that can help you to buy the right baby product.Whatever baby gear you choose make sure it is safe for the baby. Many baby items look beautiful but they are not safe for the baby.So don’t go by the beauty.Instead you should concentrate on your baby’s security.

Baby car seat is one of the most essential baby gears. You can’t miss out buying a baby car seat.It is true that you don’t want your baby to be out in a car often.Still it is important to have a baby car seat so that whenever you take the little one out he/she can be comfortable. In fact many of the hospitals will not discharge the infant until they find a baby car seat in your car.If you don’t have one they can temporarily provide you with a seat. However for long run it is better to have your own baby car seat.

These days we all have so many works to do and so many deadlines to meet.At the same time you need to take car of your baby. You can’t leave your baby alone. So the best way to carry your baby is to have a baby pouch.A front pack or back pack baby carrier can help you to take your baby wherever you go.A front pack carrier is more preferable as you can keep a check on the baby all the time. Besides the baby remains close to you and can feel the warmth.

However a baby pouch can be difficult to carry after a while. Here comes in the role of baby strollers.A stroller can help you to take your baby anywhere with you.Check the safety features before buying a stroller. The brake should function properly.Buy a stroller that has an adjustable hood. This is necessary to safeguard your baby from the harmful sun rays.

Baby clothes are very useful.Try to go for clothes made of cotton.Various fancy dresses are available in the market but don’t buy these dresses because they are very uncomfortable for the baby.Similarly choose soft toys because other toys might have sharp edge which is dangerous for your baby.
