New moms always want the best for their newborn baby that includes the foods that they eat as they grow. One way to help keep you baby healthy is to feed your infant organic meals using a baby food processor. This is very quick and an easy method of giving your child the same things that you eat.

The next time you are in a grocery store take a moment to look at the baby jar labels. You will notice there are a lot of preservatives, salt and sugar in them. One of the benefits of purchasing a processor is only you control what goes into what you are making.

Using this machine will also save you money because you are not buying jarred infant food which can be expensive. You can make a little or as much as you need at one time so that nothing goes to waste. In fact some foods can be frozen for later use.

This product comes in two styles. The first is the electric model. You simply plug it in and push a button to operate. The second is the manual type. The handle is turned which grinds the food down so that an infant can eat it. Both serve the same purpose and it is just a matter of personal choice.

When shopping for vegetables and fruits make sure to choose the freshest that you can find. When you use fresh food this helps give your child different textures and flavors as they get older. This helps develop healthy eating habits for them. By starting them off when they are young hopefully they will continue as they blossom into adulthood.

At this point you understand how to feed your infant organic meals using a baby food processor, the next step is deciding what to feed. Choosing only fresh fruit and vegetables is a great start. By giving a variety you soon discover what your child likes and dislikes. This product is a convenient way of starting your baby off with a healthy diet.

How to Give a Baby a Bath in a Puj Tub

Things you’ll need

First of all, you’ll need your Puj Tub. For those who aren’t aware, this a new baby bath tub that’s made from a soft plastic that folds to make a cozy little seat for young babies and infants that is perfectly sized to fit into bathroom sinks.
Baby soft body wash or shampoo. My personal favorite here, is Baby Bee Shampoo & Wash by Burt’s Bees.
Small pitcher or glass of water. The water temperature should be about the same temperature as your body, which is about 98 degrees. There are a variety of thermometer available on the web, and some are shaped like ducks or boats to second as a baby toy. Here’s the one that I bought, Safety Bath Thermometer Alarm, which has an alarm built-in. The alarm comes in handy in my house because it’s old and the water can change temperature very easily with our old pipes.
Hooded baby towel. The hooded part isn’t strictly necessary, but a baby’s head is where most of their heat is lost. So, the hood will keep them nice and toasty. These are widely available on the Internet.
Wash Cloth. Wash cloths for babies generally come in two sizes, infants and toddlers. I generally get a toddler wash cloth because I like to drape it over the baby like a blanket to keep them nice and warm.

Giving your baby a bath

Snap your Puj Tub together from the flat position. This can usually be done with one hand by applying pressure on the bottom edge to the tub. If you press straight down the tub will collapse at the creases and snap into place to form the seat.
Place the tub into the sink. The Puj Tub is designed to fit a bathroom sink, so if your sink is not a typical sink, and is very wide oddly shaped then it may not fit correctly. The tub should be able to fit into the sink with the top edge coming up and above the basin.
Place your baby into the tub. Your baby should fit nice a snugly into the tub. The material doesn’t transfer heat, like a metal or hard plastic tub, so it will feel warm to their skin.
Wet the baby. Depending on the baby’s age, you might pour the water from the pitcher onto them, or if they are very young you can dip the wash cloth into the water and then sponge it onto the baby. With my babies, as I said before, I like to drape the wash cloth onto their belly and chest, and then pour the water onto the cloth. The warm water feels great to them and keeps them warm.
Apply soap. Apply a mild baby soap to their body. Use caution with and around their head, and only apply soap to the head, at most, every few days. They soap can dry out their delicate skin which can cause irritation.
Rinse. Start with the head and use a clean wet wash cloth to rinse off the soap. You can rinse their body by pouring water from the pitcher, or by using a fresh wash cloth and clean water.
Dry baby. Use your hooded baby towel to dry and keep your baby warm.

Things to consider

If you haven’t gotten it yet, then follow this link to buy your Puj Tub
Temperature is really important, because really small babies haven’t yet gained the ability to control their body temperature so they might not be able to warm themselves back up if you leave the water too cold, and if it’s too hot then it could scald their skin.
Soaps can vary a lot in ingredients, so pay attention to those that might contain harmful chemicals, even if they say that they are for babies. Generally speaking, if you can’t pronounce the ingredient, then it’s bad for your baby.
Vigorous scrubbing can irritate the delicate skin of a baby. Use a soft wash cloth that is designed for use on a baby.
At the first sign of irritation, double-check your soap, wash cloths, and water temperature. If irritation or soreness persist, call a trained medical professional.

Practical Baby Shower Gift Ideas

How many times have you been invited to a baby shower? No matter how many times you have been invited, thinking of a unique gift for the baby may always come as a bit of a challenge.  You can find many baby shower gifts online. However, to find a gift most suitable and practical for the baby and the parents is more than just shopping. Here are some of the baby shower gift ideas that are useful to the new family.

Diaper Cakes. Diaper cakes can be ordered online or if you have time, why not do-it-yourself.  If you want to give a gift that is personalized and useful at the same time, diaper cakes are always great. Just make sure, you tell the host or hostess of the baby shower about your plan. For diaper cakes, you can give diapers of different sizes but try not to give much of newborn size. Babies grow quickly, so spend more on bigger diapers for the baby’s future use.

Parenting books. Parents need some help in making the baby become part of their family, may it be their first child or not. Choose the book that you find most relevant to the parents so they will enjoy reading it. You can give each parent a book instead of just one for both. You can also give one that is for ongoing use, such as books about a newborn to toddler stage. Try to order online or if not available, hire a person or a company to turn it into one.

Baby Stuff.Of course, baby stuff is one of the most common baby shower gift and certainly the one that is both useful to the baby and helpful to the parents. Unless the baby is not the first child, giving baby bottles, crib, stroller, and the like would be great because these items could last a long time if properly taken care of. Therefore, if it is the second or third child, you can first ask the parents or your other friends if it is still necessary to give such items. There is nothing wrong with asking. Note that you should spend on items that could be more useful to them. Parents would appreciate it even more.

Baby clothes. The most common and probably the safest baby shower gift ever. Clothes are the gift most people resort to because they are indeed very useful to the baby. Though sometimes the number of clothes given from baby showers are too overwhelming. As much as possible, try to think of something not that common as a gift. You can also try to give personalized clothes so that it will stand out and the parents can remember whom it is from and eventually become more valuable to the baby as well as he grows up.

Thinking of gift for the baby or the parents should be fun. Imagine yourself as the parent and start from there. What would my baby need as he grows? What do I want for my baby? Does our family need this? These are some questions that should run through your mind when you shop for a gift. You may be a parent already or not, but welcoming a baby is just once in a blue moon so try to give it your best shot!

Dress Your Infant Like A Classic Vintage Baby

With the resurgence in the popularity of vintage style in fashion and décor, there is a noted rebirth in vintage baby products.  Some stores and websites specialize in carrying true vintage items for baby and others feature vintage reproductions that capture the essence of the style while allowing for modern conveniences.  If you enjoy that era of style, these types of products might be the perfect way to dress your baby or decorate her nursery.

There are so many varieties of items that fall under the theme of vintage baby.  Authentic items might be things like dresses or tunics for baby.  Pedal cars or other toys might be featured by a company that carries true vintage items, but care has to be taken when using any older items that contain paint as the same safety measures weren’t taken back then.  There are also things like books, prints, or stuffed toys to compliment your vintage style.  Whatever you might be interested in from that era of style, you should be able to find most any item online at one of many retailers specializing in these items.

Reproductions of vintage baby items are also growing in popularity.  That style in general is popular in clothing and décor for adults as well.  For baby, it’s easy to find clothing in prints that are reminiscent of that era; dresses styled in a vintage way, or even stuffed toys that look just like on from many years ago.

Whatever the style of your nursery, there are many vintage-themed items that can compliment any décor.  As you try to find unique items for your new bundle of joy, it can be fun to look into this style or even authentic vintage items.  It’s easy to imagine that if you find a vintage dress for your baby, there will probably be no other baby with the same dress from that era, as few would have survived until now.

If you are thinking of purchasing a second-hand child or babies car seat, then you really must do it the right way. If you do not, the results may be disastrous. If you should end up with a defective seat, you could put your child in danger. Here I will discuss three top tips on how you can prevent that from happening.

1.    Age and History

Check the history of the seat carefully. Because a failure to do this may mean not only wasting your money, but worse, putting your child in danger. As a rule-of-thumb, the seat should be less than 5 years old. It should also never have been involved in a major car collision as the construction of the seat will be compromised. Do not make the error of ignoring this particular imperative suggestion!

2.    Harnesses and Straps

Almost as vital as the history, when dealing with second-hand child seats, you must actively check the belts, harnesses and connections for any signs of excessive wear. If you find fraying, cracks or tearing on any of the straps and connections, or on the seat itself, then walk away. This is certainly not something to disregard.

3.    Car Compatibility

Last of all, make sure the seat is compatible with your car before you buy it! There is no point purchasing one that will not fix properly in your vehicle. If you are looking at a seat with an ISOFIX fitting, remember that not all older cars will accomodate it. Of interest is that Britax were the first child car seat manufacturer to install ISOFIX into their car seats from 1997, so if your car is older than 2000, check first. If you don’t follow these simple steps, you may come to regret it and if it’s second-hand, you can’t really take it back!

As I pointed out at the start, when it comes to buying a second-hand child or babies car seat, you want to ensure you never make mistakes that wind up with you wasting money, or even worse, putting your child in danger. You are looking for safety, comfort and peace of mind, and these tips will help you accomplish that.

Tips For Baby Shower Theme

Your baby shower theme will depend greatly on how much time you have to plan it, the number of people you plan on inviting, the allotted budget for the event and how much help you have to put things together.

It’s important to remember that even though the shower is a way for you, your friends and your family to celebrate your baby’s imminent arrival: It’s also a traditional party that’s put together mainly for all involved to give gifts that will help you save on the essentials you and your spouse will need to care for your baby. It’s important for you to give your guests a gift to take with them commemorating the shower, but don’t unnecessarily break your bank by purchasing elaborate gifts so you don’t feel cheap around your guests.

Baby Shower Theme Decorations

Balloons
This is where you can use creativity and simplicity to make your setting fun for guests, while still letting everyone know they’re at a baby shower. Balloons are a great decoration for any party; and for your baby shower you can decorate with traditional male/female colors. If you know the sex of your baby, then go with blues and purples for boys, or pink, red and white for girls. If the baby’s sex is going to be left as a surprise when you give birth, then go for a mixture of everything — or use your imagination. Don’t be afraid to ask family for help inflating and hanging them.

Paper Cutouts
Decorative cutouts of baby bottles, rattles, soothers, etc are all great additions to your baby shower theme along with affordable stuffed toys of any kind (these can later be given to your baby when they arrive).

Flowers
Flowers might seem obvious and perhaps an expensive option: However, remember this is a baby shower and not a wedding. You can use daisies, lilacs, and other wildflowers to add a fresh aroma to the shower while keeping on budget.

Banners
Almost any baby shower theme will include a decorative banner: “It’s a boy/girl” is a standard one. You can also get creative and integrate your baby’s name into the banner if you’ve already chosen one E.g., “(Baby’s name) Welcome to the world.”

Keep Things Simple

Whatever you choose, remember to keep things easy, fun, cute and affordable.
